Guildhall School of Music & Drama

Guildhall School is a vibrant, international community of young musicians, actors and production artists in the heart of the City of London. 

A global leader in creative and professional practice, we promote innovation, experiment and research, with over 1,000 students in higher education, drawn from nearly 60 countries around the world.  

Engagement with communities keeps us constantly alive to the unique potential of performing arts to provide pathways to self-expression and positive social change. 

 Above all, Guildhall School believes in the power of performing arts to transform people’s lives, and to radically enrich the world around us.

Barbican

As a public arts centre The Barbican are committed to ensuring that everyone has access to and can benefit from the arts.

The Barbican collaborate with community, charity and local organisations to create meaningful arts experiences that support the wellbeing of people of all ages and backgrounds. By creating space for people and ideas to connect, the organisation develops sustained relationships with community partners centred on two-way learning and co-production. 

The Barbican’s programme of free events, both on and offsite, showcases creative talents and allows the organisation to test different models of collaboration with artists, communities, local authorities and other local stakeholders.

Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance

The Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance is a national membership organisation representing everyone who believes that creativity and cultural engagement can transform our health and wellbeing.

The organisation is driven by the collective power of its members. It connects, amplifies and supports the work its members create to transform people's lives and communities through culture and creativity.

Culture Mile

Culture Mile is the City of London’s cultural district, stretching from Farringdon to Moorgate.

Led by the City of London Corporation, with the Barbican, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London Symphony Orchestra and Museum of London, the five partners are together building a vibrant area in the north-west corner of the Square Mile, where the value of creativity is shared by everyone.

Over the last year Culture Mile has pivoted its focus towards hyper-local audiences, responding to the needs of our community during a particularly challenging time.

Lived Experience Network

The Lived Experience Network is a network of people across England, who have lived experience of creativity and culture having had a transformative effect on their own health and wellbeing.

The LENs works to ensure that the voices of those with lived experience remain at the heart of the arts, health and wellbeing movement. By working in partnership and acting as a critical friend, the LENs advocates for access to creative and cultural opportunities for all; making sure that lived experience stories are seen, heard, and shared.

Maya PRODUCTIONS

Maya Productions makes diverse theatre that creates change, bringing together organisations and individuals who passionately want their work to enable social change and racial justice in the arts. The company creates opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, cultures, and classes to experience theatre.

Maya Productions makes theatre led by South Asian Diaspora, African Diaspora and Ethnically Diverse artists, presenting authentic stories of contemporary relevance and reaching out to new audiences. 

Engaging with young people and communities across the UK, Maya Productions unlocks the creative potential of participants, demystifies theatre processes and inspires a diverse pool of artists and industry professionals for the future.

Slung Low

Slung Low is an award-winning theatre company specialising in making epic outdoor productions, often with large community performance companies.

The company manage The Holbeck in Leeds: the oldest working men’s club in Britain. They run the bar as a traditional members’ bar and the rest of the building as an open development space for artists. All work presented at The Holbeck is Pay What You Decide. The equipment and vehicles of the company are lent to those who have need.

During the COVID-19 pandemic Slung Low operated as ward lead for social care referrals from Leeds City Council Coronavirus helpline providing social care support to 7500 homes.

Dr Sylvan Baker

Dr Sylvan Baker, FRSA, is a Lecturer in Community Performance Applied Theatre, At Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He is an Associate Artist of the award winning Arts and Health project Performing Medicine and former Associate Director of the Arts and Social Justice research centre, People’s Palace Projects. The focus of his research is creative methods to stimulate co creation and inclusion amongst marginalised communities. As a Co-Investigator of AHRC funded research project, The Verbatim Formula, he works with care-experienced young people to support adults in providing better care and education.
